President: Kevin O'Byrne
Kevin has a wealth of experience in Project and Sport Management. For the past three years he has been the Event Manager for the EJ Whitten Legends Game, and was a Venue Manager at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
He is presently working as Good Sports Project Officer – Responsible Serving of Alcohol in local Sporting Clubs, and runs his own company “Fieldturf Sports” acting as a consultant in artificial turf for sporting grounds
Vice President: Martin Syder
Martin is the Project Manager for URS Sustainable Development, an International development agency. He has many years experience in the area of international development, specializing in the management and coordination of projects that aim to build community capacity.
Much of his experience has been working in Papua New Guinea, in particular Bougainville. In 2000 he helped coordinate a sports program for the youth in post conflict Bougainville.
Secretary: Melanie Horwood
Melanie is the proprietor of two Hairdressing Salons called Picone Hair, located in the Melbourne CBD, which have been operating for 8 years. She currently manages 5 staff members and has just taken on a 1st year apprentice.
Melanie is enthusiastic about being involved with SFA both financially and personally. Melanie’s support of SFA, both as an active Committee member, and a sponsor, have been instrumental in driving the organisation to a new level
Treasurer: Allen Wise
Allen spent most of his working career as a Technical Officer for the Government, working on the Mirage project with Government Aircraft Factory, and other technical duties with the Department of Navy.
Now retired, he volunteers teaching remedial programs for Primary School children, and is heavily involved in Lawn Bowls including coaching. For many years he was both Captain and President of the Tullamarine Golf Club, and was instrumental in a huge upgrade of their facilities.
Committee Member: Dean Smith
For most of Dean’s working life he ran his own Mechanical workshop. He now passes on those skills teaching youth at Gordon TAFE. He is a certified Workplace and Assessment trainer.
He thoroughly embraced the philosophy of SFA and assisted in the delivery of the soccer program in Geelong. He is an accredited soccer coach and an accomplished musician. A man of vision and commitment, he recently organized the Jailhouse Rock fundraiser for SFA at the Geelong Gaol.
Committee Member: Di Earp
Di is currently Operations Director for a private child care company with experience in Department of Human Services as a Children's Services Adviser as well as working in Parenting Assessment and Skill Development. Di was also involved in providing care and education for the East Timorese refugees at Puckapunyal.
While working with the families at Puckapunyal, Di states, “I saw first hand how sport and recreation improved the confidence, language and social skills of children. Sport and recreation helped these children through a very hard time. This is why I have a strong interest in the work of SFA”. She holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Dilpoma of Children's Services and a Diploma of Business.
Executive Director: Keith Wise
Keith has been involved in the development of sports and recreation for people with disabilities for over ten years. He is presently Executive Officer with Victorian Sport and Recreation Association of Persons with an Intellectual Disability (VICSRAPID Inc.) as well as his SFA role. His passion for disability sports began as an aid worker in Afghanistan where he instigated programs for children who were landmine victims.
